Libby Gordon’s work, depending on the subject can range from clean and neat styles to grungy styles. Through composition and clever design she tries to convey her message clearly. She conveys the moods, meanings, and messages through visual means. She likes designs that look almost handmade, but clean and crisp layouts appeal to her as well. Her work is important to her because it allows her to express herself creatively and to reach people. She believes it is important for everyone to express his or herself creatively in some way. To her, art is an expression of self and a commentary by the artist about his/her views of life. The artist should not only be trying to express his/herself, but also trying to get across whatever idea they are trying to communicate to their audience. Her idea of “good” art, or at least good graphic design, is something that is easily understood and not easily forgotten. People should be able to look a piece of graphic design and know exactly what it is trying to tell them, and in such a way that they will not forget the message. Her view on art in the world today is that people tend to create art on subjects they are passionate about. People create things dealing with political issues, moral issues, religious issues, and any other kind of issue that invokes a strong emotion of some sort. |
